WebInterface Help
The WebInterface is a powerful way to easily manage your files from a web browser. Here is a quick help guide to what all the forms and buttons do.
Navigation
Your browsers back button is your friend. Since the WebInterface is a "live" interface, the back button will work when you are navigating folders. No matter what folder you are in, you can quickly jump back to a previous folder by clicking on the "bread crumb" path trail at the top.
If you'd like, you can also click the "house" to go all the way to your home folder.
The refresh button will just refresh the current directory. Its rarely needed though as nearly everything refreshes live.
Sorting
Right above the columns are quick sort buttons. Sorting is done live, no refreshing. Simple click the arrow up or down to reorder the items below.
The " + - " button is a toggle button to toggle all checkboxes either on or off. If three checkboxes are on, and the rest off, it will turn those three of, and the rest on.
Folders
Click on a folder to go into it, or click the arrow next to a folder to quickly drill down into a folder. See the above picture for an example where the "images" and "thumbnails" folders were drilled down into. Files have a different icon, and clicking them will either download it, or view it in your web browser.
Buttons
The delete button does as you would expect. It will delete the items you have placed a check mark on in the list. You won't see this button if you don't have permission.
The .ZIP button is very useful. If will request all files you have a check mark on be downloaded as one single zip file. This is the fastest way to download multiple files all at once!
This will show a popup asking for the name of the folder to create. You will not see this button if you don't have permission.
Allows you to upload files. Its very very fast when you let it "Auto Zip" the files. You can upload an entire folder of small files in just seconds. Once the upload is done, the window will close and the list of files will automatically refresh. If you can, you probably want to use this for uploads. The Java Uploader supports dragging and dropping, or copy and paste to add files to the list to upload. The server admin can require you to fill out a form before accepting uploads.
Allows you to upload files too. It uses the browser to do it, so you must pick each file one at a time. It does however give you realtime feedback as you upload. The server admin can require you to fill out a form before accepting uploads.
Shows the search popup screen. You can search from your current directory, and deeper. You can look for files based on their name, date, size, type, and even custom comments you may have uploaded the file with. Be patient, searching can take some time as it scans through all the files.
Allows you to control certain aspects about your account such as your password.
Brings you here to learn about the WebInterface.
This button allows you to login and logout. If your logged in, it will show as a logout button instead of a login button.
Deleting Items
If you delete items, its permanent. You will be prompted for approval before the delete is done. The example picture shows three files selected when the delete button was clicked.
Uploading
This is the normal browser uploader, with a custom form the server administrator is requesting be filled out.
This is the uploads in progress. Three small files screaming along. Longer uploads will show an estimated time remaining alon with current speed.
This is a picture of the Java Uploader. It allows you to drag and drop into its window, or copy and paste files to the window. With the option to Auto Zip, its the fastest way to upload. It also supports resume uploads.
Zipping
The zip button allows you to pick multiple files from any that are visible, and have the server zip them all up and send them to you. Its all done on the fly, and is extremely fast. In the below picture I have 3 items selected to be zipped and downloaded.
Renaming
The rename buttons display an in-line text box for you to edit a file's name. Simply click the "pencil" icon to edit a name. Once you hit return or click OK, the file's name will change immediately.
User Options (change password)
This popup window lets you change your password. Other account specific settings will eventually start to show up here as well.
Search
One of the more powerful pieces to the WebInterface is the search functionality. You can see from the picture that you can get very detailed in your searching. Its important to remember that the search starts from your current directory and works its way down from there. So if you only want to search a folder, go into the folder first before starting the search.
