It took us about a year to finally realize that this relationship could really be something special and I am so glad we stuck with it. After a few years of adventures, meeting each other's families and getting to really know one another, Ryan proposed fourth of July weekend 2016. That morning he let me sleep in a little and sent in our little pup Miss Tater Tot to wake me up with a ring attached to her collar. The absolute sweetest and emotional moment of my life.

How did you find your venue? Were you happy with it?:
We had done some research online to find outdoor venues that weren't typical in the Phoenix area and also a place that we could do the ceremony, dinner and dancing in one place, and Boojum Tree popped up on our search. The pictures obviously do not do the place justice because when we walked into this magical place, we knew immediately we had to have our special day here. The venue reminded us of our favorite place in the world, Mexico and come to find out that was the inspiration when the owner started to expand the space.... he has my heart :) The courtyard where the ceremony took place was magical, the greenhouse where we had dinner was so enchanting and romantic and the cantina and gazebo dancing area really gave guests options to relax with a cocktail, chat with other guests or dance the night away. All of our guests were blown away with the venue and said it was the most beautiful and the most fun wedding they had ever been to. And our coordinator, Jennifer, was an absolute angel. She continually made sure we were happy and everything was perfect throughout the night. She was so patient and encouraging during the planning process, the communication was outstanding, she was professional yet she really made me laugh during the times we needed it...I honestly do not think there is another coordinator that would work as hard as Jennifer did throughout the night and throughout the process.

Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception:
I don't think we really had a "theme" persay, we're a laid back couple and just wanted to have an environment where everyone would feel comfortable and have a good time celebrating. Since the venue has a Mexico feel to it, we went with a Mexican style dinner and also a pinata for our guest book where guests would write us messages that we will read on our first year anniversary. The venue is so lush with greenery, beautiful colored decor and flowers that we did not want to take away from its beauty so I did not have additional flower arrangements. The only added decor we had were framed photos of our friends and family scattered in the cantina and a flip flop basket for guests located by the dance floor. In the greenhouse for dinner, we kept the table settings clean and classic playing off the gold chairs. We had assorted vases with the tops wrapped in gold rhinestones filled with water and pearls, one had a floating candle and the other had a floating ivory flower. We did not have table numbers, instead we named our tables after our favorite "things" such as vacation spots and our dog. We had gold picture frames that named the table along with a photo of us at the named place. We also had a 26 person kings table that was placed in the middle of the greenhouse where our bridal party and their guests sat with us. I think the clean and simplistic table settings really made the lush greenery and beautiful lighting stand out.

What piece of advice would you give other brides planning their big day?:
I was a DIY type of bride so every piece of decor was made by myself, including all the bouquets, so if any brides plan to do the same, I would suggest to start playing around with ideas a few months before so you are not rushed the last few weeks before the wedding. We had everything done weeks before so once the week of the wedding came, we really were able to just enjoy the family time and the moments leading to the big day. Also, get ideas from your coordinator as to what works and what doesn't. Jennifer really helped me wrap my head around what centerpieces we should do because for some reason, that was the most stressful part. And she was absolutely right because the table settings turned out beautiful and perfect. And another thing we did that worked out perfectly was having the rehearsal followed by the rehearsal dinner/welcome party for out of town guests on Thursday. It was nice because we had a day in between (since we got married on Saturday) to recuperate since it was a fun late night and give out of town guests a day to enjoy various activities throughout the city. Everyone really enjoyed us doing it that way.

<? if (file_exists($DOCUMENT_ROOT."/includes/footer-weddings.php")) { include_once($DOCUMENT_ROOT."/includes/footer-weddings.php"); } else { header("location: /error.php"); } ?>
