My parents pushed me to see the country a bit and go somewhere different for college, leading me to Arizona State. Andrew received a scholarship to play baseball for Phoenix College. The girls I lived with at the time wanted to go watch some baseball on a nice Saturday morning and knew a few of the players on the Phoenix team. I watched Andrew slide into second base, break his ankle, and actually said to them that we would never see him again now that he was injured! Lucky for me that wasn't the case.

Tell us about your venue.
Being we got engaged on New Year's Eve, that led Andrew and I to think it might be kind of neat to have a wedding on New Year's Eve. We knew if we were to get married in NH, only my family would come and if we got married in IL, only his family would come. Arizona was where we met, and it seemed perfect! Why not make it a destination wedding and Sedona it was. We looked at a few places in Sedona, knowing we wanted a place where we can have the wedding in the same place as where the guests were staying so everyone could enjoy themselves. The minute we walked into Amara Resort & Spa and met with April, we were sold. The grounds were beautiful, the view was amazing, and the staff was very attentive. In my mind, if people were coming to see us get married from all over the country, we wanted them to be catered to as though they were on vacation. I cannot say enough good things about Amara and April and we were thrilled with our choice in a venue. At the wedding, we had amazing appetizers, a gorgeous salad, and a duet plate of fillet and Chilean sea bass. This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time, which in my experience, is quite rare for wedding food. We had local Oak Creek beers on draft, wine, and a signature prickly pear margarita in a fountain for fun. Amara set everything up, so my job on the wedding day was to enjoy being the bride, which was wonderful.

Tell us about your photographer.
The photographer we used was Andrew Holman. He was there early, and captured every important detail of our special day. He took 8000 pictures! It's amazing what Andrew can do with a camera. It was nice how he took so many candid shots as well, so not every picture looked so staged. He gave us a CD once he had gone through every photo and perfected them so we were able to print whatever and whichever pictures we wanted, which is really nice.

Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception.
The color scheme we went with was to go with New Year's. We picked champagne gold, white, and black. This led to our tables having chivari gold chairs, a white tablecloth, gold napkins, and white flowers. Much of the fun of the table was the details. We put menus on the table that had the same design as our invitations, small, gold, glitter candles, we used old fashioned gold clocks set to different times as our table numbers, and we put New Year's hats, horns, glasses, etc. out for everyone to enjoy.

<?php if (file_exists($DOCUMENT_ROOT."/includes/footer-weddings.php")) { include_once($DOCUMENT_ROOT."/includes/footer-weddings.php"); } else { header("location: /error.php"); } ?>
