We went on a date or two here and there over the next several years, but things just never really worked. On our dates we had such a great time, but we both just didn't really know what we wanted in life or a relationship. Obviously what we wanted was each other since over the course of six years we kept finding ourselves together. A little over two years ago we went on another "First Date" and have been together ever since.

How did he propose?:
We were really into a recreational activity called "Geocaching" where you use GPS coordinates to find hidden objects throughout the world. Matt created a "cache" of his own by making a scavenger hunt which lead me to a geocache out by Canyon Lake. When I finally reached the cache location that was on top of a mountain he popped out of a bush and proposed to me with his friend Nate hiding in the bushes recording the whole thing. I couldn't have asked for a better or least expected proposal!

Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception:
We chose to use black and white with just a hint of red. Black and white have always been a sophisticated color combination and we wanted our wedding to be timeless and classy with a little fun. We used peacock feathers and red and black small feathers as accents in the bouquets and boutonnieres. For our table centerpieces we used "The Views’" tall iron stands with simple white flowers and lots of greenery. The white flowers really lightened the black and red table linens during the reception.

What fun traditions or special moments did you incorporate in your day that is unique to only your wedding?:
We made sure to use upbeat music during our ceremony because although it was a serious event, we didn't want the music to be stuffy and too formal. We played “Modern Love" by Matt Nathanson during our sand ceremony and Hall & Oates "You Make My Dreams Come True" during our walk back down the aisle together as husband and wife. Also, in place of table numbers, we used city names that meant something to us. For example, we used our birth cities at each of our parents’ tables. My mom also surprised me with a garter made from the lace and fabric from her wedding gown to wear during the wedding.

Were you happy with the venue?:
We could not have asked for a better group of people to help plan our day. The Views at Superstition made planning our wedding so easy and all of the vendors that they work with are amazing. Both our ceremony and reception locations really wowed us with all of their help and service. Tracey at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club made sure the ceremony went as planned. She set everything up just the way we wanted it and was great with checking in. Tracy at The Views at Superstition and her staff were always friendly and willing to help us in anyway possible. She also made sure to check in with us during the wedding reception to see if there was anything we needed or wanted.

What piece of advice would you give other brides planning their big day?
Wedding photography is expensive but it is the only thing Matt and I would never have wanted to cut corners on. As many brides and grooms have said before, the day goes by so fast and you are lucky if you remember most of it. The pictures that we have from our wedding help us to remember our day the way that it was and to see us as a couple in love. Matt and I both do not remember what our buffet area looked like or the reception area without guests all over and having pictures of it all was amazing. Find a photographer you can talk with, that has fun, and that loves not only life, but their job. It will make your day so much more special, during your wedding and after.

Two of our friends used a certain photographer for their wedding and both of them said that he was cheaper than most, but hearing their stories of how difficult he was to deal with the entire time and seeing that their pictures were exactly the same, just with a different couple, made us decide to really search for the perfect photographer. After meeting with Brooke Photography at a local restaurant (where she showed up wearing converse and toting beautiful pictures around) we both knew she was perfect for our day!

<?php if (file_exists($DOCUMENT_ROOT."/includes/footer-weddings.php")) { include_once($DOCUMENT_ROOT."/includes/footer-weddings.php"); } else { header("location: /error.php"); } ?>
