He was making a big deal of it and wanting to surprise me with the details so I had my suspicions that he may be planning to propose. He told me he was taking me to a fine dining restaurant so to pack a nice outfit (I’m a tee-shirt and jeans kind of girl) and that was it! I played along and didn’t ask a lot of questions. When we got there, we checked into our hotel and got ready for dinner. We then drove to a wonderful dinner where we watched the sunset over the canyon. The whole time I was expecting to find a ring in my food or drink but we finished dinner and no ring appeared; I figured tonight wasn’t the night. We made our way back to our hotel. When we got there, I got out of the car and ran to our room because it was December and I was freezing. I didn’t have a key so I was left standing at the door waiting for Jeff to catch up. When he did, he opened the door and held it for me so I could walk in first. When I looked in I saw rose petals all sprinkled on the floor leading into the kitchen where there was a vase of roses and tea lights on the counter. I totally froze in shock and asked, “What’s this?” That’s it, I didn’t move and didn’t say anything else. I was in awe over how he had pulled this off and couldn’t believe that the hotel would have done all this. Finally he asked if I was going to come in and see the rest of the suite. So I followed him in to find more rose petals leading to the bedroom and more candles and champagne in the living room. I followed him into the bedroom where ‘I Love You’ was spelled out on the bed in roses and Michael Buble’s ‘Everything’ was playing on the stereo. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes and then quickly followed with, “How did you do all this?” He said he had his best friend drive up from Phoenix and decorate the room to his strict instructions while we were at dinner.

An Atypical Ceremony:
Jeff is part Irish and very proud of his heritage. We had bagpipers play for our procession and recession. I really wanted an atypical wedding ceremony so I chose to have a handfasting ceremony which is Celtic tradition. We also opted to have one of Jeff’s best friends get ordained and perform the ceremony.

Reception Theme:
The theme for my wedding was vintage/garden. I really like vintage/antique things and I love flowers. I wanted to keep things very simple, elegant, and highlight the natural beauty of the garden setting. The colors I chose were sage and lavender. Our table setting was simple. I chose antique hydrangeas and cool water roses for the centerpiece, there were tea lights and the homemade jam favors that I made myself.

Photographer:
I was very happy with the Desert Trends Photography. Mike Zysman was fantastic and took beautiful photographs. We get SO MANY compliments!

<?php if (file_exists($DOCUMENT_ROOT."/includes/footer-weddings.php")) { include_once($DOCUMENT_ROOT."/includes/footer-weddings.php"); } else { header("location: /error.php"); } ?>
